Maisons de Ville Challenger Ouest:
56 “LEED Silver” certified homes

MONTREAL – Already known for its beautiful green spaces and water expanses, Le Nouveau Saint-Laurent can also add eco-friendly to its list of attributes. In fact, the developer, Maisons de Ville Challenger Ouest Inc., has obtained LEED Canada’s Silver certification for a first set of housing units. Built in accordance with sustainable development principles, the 56 certified units housed in 7 buildings constitute the greatest number of single-family dwellings built in Quebec for a single project.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Canada standards redefine the way we think about the places where we live. The LEED certification is granted by the Canada Green Building Council, which works to advance green building and sustainable community development practices in order to create environmentally responsible, economically profitable, and healthy places in which to live and work.
“Obtaining the LEED Canada certification means that your project is an innovative example of sustainable development and that you have shown leadership in transforming the building industry,” wrote Mark Hutchinson, Director of Green Building Programs, at the Canada Green Building Council, in a letter to Mr. Guido Di Zazzo, Vice-President of Maisons de Ville Challenger Ouest. Hutchinson also qualified the 56 certified housing units as “an impressive achievement.”
“This certification will give our clients great added value when the times comes for them to resell, while providing them with a wonderful living environment that is eco-friendly and environmentally responsible,” declared the President of Maisons de Ville Challenger Ouest Inc., Rocco Di Zazzo. “These townhouses also meet strict Novoclimat standards, another sign of their high energy efficiency,” adds Di Zazzo.
The developer also insists that it’s only the beginning, since he will also be seeking to obtain this certification for the remaining housing units to be built in the Challenger Ouestsection, which puts forward the most popular elements that have earned the neighbourhood’s success in the borough of Saint-Laurent. Indeed, this exceptional development is recognized for its vast, carefully maintained green spaces, its contemporary condos, its impressive luxury homes and its sought-after townhouses.
